Position Summary

 

The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical Services Academy (EMS Academy), is seeking Temporary Part-time Faculty. EMS Temporary Part-time Faculty serve several roles:

  • As National Registry Evaluators or EMS Proctors: To prepare and teach the EMS Academy prescribed content in the laboratory, clinical or classroom setting under the supervision of the course Instructor Coordinator, Exam Coordinator, or Primary Faculty member. These EMS proctors work to support the EMS education through lectures, testing, lab proctoring, and/or clinical site instruction. EMS proctors assist in all manner of EMS education, performed in compliance with EMS Academy EMSA and UNM requirements and standards. Proctors also support the National Registry Licensing Exam process, working to support National Registry Representatives and Exam Coordinators in serving as Evaluators for National Registry psychomotor exams.   • As EMS Instructors: To prepare and teach the EMS Academy prescribed content in an assigned course as the "Instructor Coordinator" (primary instructor) for a class or student cohort. These primary instructors are responsible for course preparation, grading, student mentoring, supervising proctors, distance education, simulation, and all manner of education for the assigned course, performed in compliance with EMS Academy EMSA and UNM requirements and standards.   • As Adjunct Lecturers: To prepare and teach content in an assigned course or cohort as the primary faculty member. These primary faculty members are responsible for curriculum development, grading, student mentoring, supervising proctors, distance education, simulation, and all manner of education for the assigned course, performed in compliance with EMS Academy EMSA and UNM requirements and standards. Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED and 
  • Demonstrated experience relating to the role/s sought to fill.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current New Mexico Paramedic License

Preferred for National Registry Evaluator, EMS Proctor and EMS Instructor

  • Current National Registry Paramedic Certification

Preferred for National Registry Evaluator, EMS Proctor and EMS Instructor

  • Years related (EMS or medical) experience

Preferred for National Registry Evaluator and EMS Proctor: 2 years

Preferred for EMS Instructor: 3 years

Preferred for EMS Adjunct Lecturer: 4 years

  • Current UNM EMS Academy I/C credential and affiliation

Preferred for: EMS Instructor

  • Bachelors/Baccalaureate or Masters Degree

Preferred for: Adjunct Lecturer
