Position Summary

 

The Maternal Child Health Program with the Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a full-time faculty member, Nurse Midwife, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner, to work with our Maternal and Child Health Services on the Mother Baby Unit. Responsibilities and duties include providing post-partum care to mothers and babies, evaluations of infants less than two weeks of age in a newborn clinic, caring for infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome and providing lactation support. This clinician will also organize and provide orientation for new interns and students on the service and will lead educational activities. This clinician will also retrieve and collect data on Maternal Child Health (MCH) activities as a part of our continuity quality improvement and patient safety efforts.

Patient Centered Care
In the clinical area, the candidate will be engaged in family-centered post-partum and newborn care on our Maternal Child Health service.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification/Licensure for New Mexico as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant OR Certified Nurse Midwife
  • Master’s Degree
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications - Clinical Experience In:

  • Post-partum rounds and care of mothers and babies
  • Evaluating infants less than two weeks of age in a Newborn clinic
  • Caring for infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Providing lactation support
  • Experience in conducting orientations, presentations and teaching new interns and medical students
  • Experience collecting data for MCH activities
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
