The UNM Department of Geography and Environmental Studies anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach in the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters. Anticipated openings may include, but are not limited to, the following courses: GEOG 1115: Maps and GIScience GEOG 1160: Home Planet: Land, Water, and Life GEOG 1165: People and Place GEOG 1175: World Regions GEOG 381L: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems GEOG 427/527: Introduction to Programming for GIS GEOG 475/575: Geography of New Mexico and the Southwest GEOG 581L: Introduction to GIS for Graduate Students More information about these courses can be found in the current UNM Catalog. The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies is seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach undergraduate classes in various subjects as specified above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class that they are assigned to teach. Such responsibilities include but are not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, delivering course content in face-to-face and online formats, developing and grading assignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes per standards outlined by the department. Teaching modalities (either face-to-face or online) will be determined by the department prior to the start of teaching assignments. Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, permanent faculty availability, and the need to offer specific courses in order to fulfill degree program requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Chair of the UNM Department of Geography and Environmental Studies.
