Position Summary |
Are you ready to advance your career by leveraging your expertise in communication, strategic planning, and project management? The University of New Mexico (UNM) Human Resources (HR) Division is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as an HR Communications & Project Specialist. In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving our strategic communication initiatives and supporting key HR projects. From overseeing newsletters and campuswide communications to managing multi-phased campaigns, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your skills and creativity. Collaborating closely with HR leadership, you will contribute to the planning, design, and execution of impactful communications and initiatives. Strategic Communication Planning: Develop, coordinate and implement the strategic communication strategies for HR’s strategic initiatives, special projects, and university-wide programs, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic plan. Oversee and manage multiple enterprise-wide communication channels for effective and efficient communications.
Content Creation & Technical Writing: Compose, design, write, edit, and review HR communications for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, articles, speeches, presentations, marketing materials, and web content. Prepare and disseminate communications on HR policies, programs, guidelines, and other relevant information to the university community and external audiences.
Project Support: Actively contributes to project teams in developing, coordinating, and implementing HR strategic initiatives. Conducts research, analyzes potential solutions, and recommends appropriate actions. Additionally, responsible for facilitating meetings.
Stakeholder Engagement: Manage and maintain multiple Listserv accounts to ensure streamlined and efficient communications across the enterprise; moderate content and troubleshoot issues. Coordinate and facilitate communication efforts among internal and external stakeholders. Represent the Division at communication, marketing, and social media committee meetings, ensuring compliance with established UNM brand identity standards.

Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |

Specifically, preferred qualifications include: - Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
- Five or more years of experience in writing and editing communications for administrators or senior management.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, fostering collaboration with various stakeholders and demonstrating a strong commitment to customer service.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, staying flexible, professional, and positive.
- Demonstrated experience in project planning and management, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Advanced skills in developing executive-level presentations and content that ensures consistency in message and alignment with organizational brand/design guidelines.
- Experience in technical writing, with the ability to simplify complex topics for a general audience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
