Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.
 
The UNM-Gallup Division of Student Affairs, Office of Admissions and Recruitment, is searching for a highly motivated person to join our team as an Admissions Advisor. This position will provide critical support to the campus by initiating and facilitating recruitment and outreach efforts throughout assigned territories, processing undergraduate admissions applications, evaluating transcripts, and advising potential students on admission requirements and options, transfer, and related issues. Additionally, this position will assist in the development of programs and marketing materials, facilitate campus tours and present to groups and/or individuals on and off campus.

The ideal candidate will be student focused and have an energetic personality with the ability to prepare and deliver small and large group presentations and one-on-one sessions; the ability to work independently, complete assignments, and make professional and sound decisions is essential. There will be some required evening and weekend work at recruitment and outreach events, which may include some travel. Success in this position requires working well in a team environment, including effective cross-functional communications with other departments and University personnel, while achieving excellent customer service.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with high school students in a higher education environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations and speak in front of large and small audiences
  • Experience and/or direct knowledge and familiarization with higher education (college/university) with emphasis in Admissions, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Records & Registration and other related student services.
  • Strong computer skills which demonstrate efficiency, speed, accuracy, and ability to learn programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and underrepresented students
  • Demonstrated experience with effective workplace communications (written/verbal), leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and adaptive to flexible assignments as business needs require.
