Position Summary

 

The UNM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is eager to put together the right package for addictions-trained physicians with an interest in teaching, coupled with an interest in joining a team of talented, caring and committed faculty members.  Applications are being accepted for academic faculty physicians, suitable for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, for a position in our Addiction Psychiatry Division.  The successful candidate can take full advantage of opportunities available in our vibrant and active academic community.

As an attending physician, the person(s) selected will have a voice in developing the addiction program’s direction as well as opportunities for multicultural clinical care and scholarly and collaborative research activities across the Health Sciences campus.  There are many opportunities for professional development in leadership, administration, and education, including mentoring and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees in multiple disciplines. 

Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience and academic background.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor (or equivalent) degree;
  • Board certified or board eligible in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine;
  • Clinical experience, minimum one year;
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of New Mexico;
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Educational, teaching and supervision experience with residents, fellows and medical students;
  • Clinical leadership experience in an academic setting;
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
