SUMMARY: Participates as a member of an archeology crew in locating, collecting, recording, and interpreting archaeological data during the survey, testing, and excavation of an archaeology project. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Performs systematic documentation of archaeological sites using established mapping techniques and field methods; interprets data using topographic maps and aerial photographs; establishes site boundaries by walking through areas and using GPS instruments. •Excavates archaeological sites using shovels, buckets, and other digging tools; documenting soil profiles; records relevant features by describing, drawing, photography, and other appropriate means; packs and transports artifacts such as rocks, bones, and soil samples; completes field data forms. • Conducts in-field analysis of artifacts using digital platforms, such as, tablets, GPS units, and total stations. • Participates in compiling in-field data for reports; may participate in laboratory analysis and report writing. • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. • Participants locating, collecting, recording, and interpreting archaeological data during the survey, testing, and excavation phases of an archaeology project.

Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or other relevant field; completion of a field school.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
