Position Summary

 

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center is actively expanding and invites applications for a distinguished Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Surgeon to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team.

We are seeking an individual who has completed an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.  The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a thriving clinical practice at the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic.  Additionally, they will collaborate with existing faculty to share on-call responsibilities and contribute to the education of medical students and residents.  We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, and research within an academic setting.  The Eye Clinic at UNM, as part of the UNM Health System, offers a unique and rewarding mix of tertiary and under-served care.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications for position:

  • Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency Program
  • Completion of a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship
  • Board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications for position:

  • Experience in clinical education
  • Experience in clinical research
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
