The Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) is searching for a Quantum Technology Research Manager who is passionate about developing research training programs in a university environment.
The Quantum Technology Research Manager will primarily oversee and manage two academic research training programs at UNM: the Quantum Photonics and Quantum Technology graduate program (QPAQT) and the Quantum Undergraduate Research Experience at CHTM (QU-REACH). Specific duties include: organizing faculty and collaborators meetings, serving as liaison for program evaluation and external partnerships with companies and national labs, reporting to funding agencies, recruiting and advising students (including managing applications and admissions), maintaining websites and overseeing day-to-day program communications, and organizing a weekly seminar. The individual may also be expected to develop modules for the weekly seminar on topics such as science communication.
The individual will also have the opportunity to pursue and collaborate in quantum-related research projects, participate in entrepreneurial and economic development efforts, and mentor junior scientists in the field. Under general supervision, the individual may employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in any field adjacent to quantum technology to plan, coordinate, and conduct research. Examples of relevant research areas include: quantum sensing, spin chemistry, defect spectroscopy, and/or magnetic resonance; fabrication, crystal growth, and/or chemical synthesis of qubit materials; quantum optics, quantum networks, integrated photonics, and/or spin-photon interfaces; advanced spectroscopy and microscopy; applications to biological and materials physics, chemistry, engineering, or medical fields. Other duties involving the same general qualifications may arise from time to time. The individual will work under the direction of the QPAQT and QU-REACH Programming Committees.

Master's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
