Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico has established branch colleges to serve the citizens of New Mexico and to provide the highest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary education at different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respective communities by offering community education programs, career and technical education including certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges and universities.

The UNM-Gallup Facilities Management is seeking an experienced Supervisor of Custodial Services. Under general direction, the Custodial Supervisor, supervises the daily activities of custodial services, including personnel assignment, training and management, quality, assurance, and inventory control. 
Work is performed using work orders and maintaining records on inventory tracking system. The position may work on-call, overtime and weekends as required. The position requires physical activity and exposure to indoor and outdoor elements including hazardous material, which require following basic safety precautions.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience in custodial services with a university, college, public school setting, or private custodial cleaning firm.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills and/or ability in:

  • The use of custodial equipment, chemicals and supplies and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Planning/scheduling techniques and performing complex tasks and prioritizing multiple projects.
  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • The use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Supervising and training assigned employees
