MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Doctorate in Music, Music Education, or Education, required by August 2025. 2. Three years of instrumental music teaching experience at the middle or high school level. 3. Two years, or more, university-level teaching experience in the capacity of graduate assistant or above. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Excellence in university level teaching experience as demonstrated by the CV, teaching philosophy statement, videos, references and experience. 2. High-level expertise (teaching ability, musicianship, and scholarship) related to instrumental music education in the public school setting. 3. Expertise in music education beyond traditional band and/or orchestra, which might include vernacular music, jazz, mariachi, world drumming, etc. 4. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities as demonstrated by diversity statement and CV. 5. Commitment to scholarship and a vision for future research activity as detailed in the application materials and interviews. 6. An understanding of and ability/desire to teach asynchronous online courses. 7. Teaching has been informed by contemporary issues in instrumental music education, e.g., inclusive/expansive/relevant approaches to repertoire selection, effective modeling of evidence-based instruction & pedagogy, a vision for equitable access to instrumental music education in public schools, etc., as demonstrated in the CV, interview, references and application letter. |
