Position Summary

The Department of Individual, Family, & Community Education is seeking a Coordinator of Academics to provide staff support for a variety of components and processes associated with graduate academic programs in Counselor Education, Family & Child Studies, Nutrition, and Educational Psychology.

The ideal candidate for the Coordinator of Academics position is a team-oriented individual who displays excellent judgment and a professional demeanor. The ideal candidate also possesses strong analytical, organizational, and customer-service skills. The candidate must have high-level, professional communication skills in electronic, oral, and written media. This candidate must also enjoy working in an environment with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations.

Duties of the position include: 

  • Works closely with Dept Administrator in the day-to-day academic, administrative, and operational activities of the department.
  • Assists with clerical support of the Manzanita Counseling Center.
  • Assists with scheduling and provides associated support services to faculty and staff.
  • Monitors, reconciles, and assists with fiscal administration for the unit, including but not limited to budgets, funding, grants, contracts, payroll, employment, travel, and/or purchasing; may assist with fiscal planning, including participating in seeking alternate sources of funding.
  • Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports and statistical information; maintains records and documentation, tracks student progress through the program for completion of requirements; coordinates information required for program operations.
  • May supervise and train lower level staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate.
  • Maintain records and upkeep relating to students, including files, databases, and listserves.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an academic environment or related environment with administrative support tasks.
  • Strong customer service skills/ability to manage deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong data analysis experience/ability to research issues.
  • Experience working with confidential information and proficiency and accuracy for detail in organizing and maintaining files and records.
  • Experience with UNM applications such as Banner, Chrome River, and LoboMart.
  • Experience working with confidential information.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
