Position Summary

 

The Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program in the Department of Pathology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center seeks applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position.  The successful candidate will inspire learners, primarily in Clinical Immunohematology, Clinical Serology and Clinical Management and Education, as well as other teaching opportunities that may come their way.  Courses are taught on-campus, online, and/or hybrid formats.  Other exciting aspects of this position including creating and contributing to course curriculum, student advisement, recruitment, and collaboration with affiliated clinical rotation sites.  The candidate will be a participant on the UNM MLS Advisory Committee to shape our community involvement.  This is a perfect position for someone who is stimulated by learners and supportive of the Medical Laboratory Sciences profession.  Working together, we will share ideas and care for our students and community.  We’re looking forward to your application.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in MLS or related field
  • ASCP Certification (or equivalent)
  • Three years of clinical laboratory experience in Clinical Immunohematology
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications:

  • More than 3 years Clinical Immunohematology experience
  • Specialist in Blood Banking and/or additional technologist/scientist certification from the ASCP
  • Teaching/Trainer experience in Clinical Immunohematology, Serology, Clinical Management and/or another medical laboratory discipline
  • Experience developing teaching and assessment materials
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining courses remotely and/or in-person
  • Documented evidence of on-going professional development and proof of continuing education
  • Master’s degree in MLS/CLS or related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
