Medical Practice Analyst

Position Summary The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is a multi-division department within the UNM School of Medicine. We provide excellent, innovative education to residents, medical students, and health professionals; the highest quality mental health care to the citizens of New Mexico; and pursue outstanding multidisciplinary research that helps solve important health problems.

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional as our new Medical Practice Analyst to support and report to the Medical Practice Specialist in the analysis of clinical billing activity, provider productivity, and resolution of documentation deficiencies. The Medical Practice Analyst will be responsible for consistent review of billing activity and identifying and interpreting anomalies that represent both positive and negative changes in our practices. These anomalies need to be effectively communicated to the Medical Practice Specialist and department leadership to influence swift resolution or change.

The Medical Practice Analyst will develop and present complex reports to department leadership in a clear and concise format.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with operational and productivity reporting within a clinical setting; 
  • Experience with analysis of billing, financial and operation information within a clinical setting; 
  • Knowledge of UNM and UNMH policies and procedures; 
  • Strong verbal and written communication; 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
