This position works with the Department Administrator of the Department of Geography & Environmental Studies (GES) and the director of the Sustainability Studies Program (SSP) to oversee the day-to-day activities of SSP as well the department’s other academic programs.
The Coordinator will manage administrative processes for GES and SSP programs, including for establishing new courses, certificates and degrees; managing key processes in the service of the scheduling of courses and course evaluations; providing assistance with student advisement and recruitment; and providing registration assistance to students.
The Coordinator will also play a lead communication role and will provide updates to the SSP and GES webpages, produce promotional materials for the program, and help organize events.
There is recordkeeping, purchasing, budget reporting, time entry and other basic administrative duties associated with the position. It also may include student employee supervision and staff support for SSP and GES interdisciplinary collaboratives.
This position requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate as a member of a small team that serves a wide range of internal and external constituents.
This position has on-campus working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
· Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
· Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems independently and to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
· Knowledge of office management principles and procedures.
· Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control reports.
· Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
· Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive confidential issues.
· Experience in higher education working with faculty, students, staff, and members of the public.
· Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, contract and grant processes, and/or employment.
