Position Summary |
Reporting to the Office of Compliance, Ethics, and Equal Opportunity, the Associate Title IX Coordinator will work in close collaboration with, and under the direction of, UNM’s Title IX Coordinator. This position will serve as backup to the Title IX Coordinator as needed, assist with the operations and programming of Title IX, oversee education and training programs, assist with the grievance process of reports/complaints asserting violations of the University's nondiscrimination policies, as well as corresponding local, state, and federal laws, and consult with the Clery Coordinator, ADA Coordinator, Director of Equal Opportunity, and others as appropriate for accuracy and efficiency. Key Duties and Responsibilities: - Maintain current knowledge in the field through active professional development;
- Stay current on national trends and best practices regarding Title IX, pregnancy protections, LGBTQIA+ protections, gender-based violence, VAWA, safety planning, and Violence Risk Assessment;
- Track and oversee internal and external annual training requirements for Title IX;
- Act as the Super User for online training platforms (including, but not limited to SUNY Student Conduct Institute and ATIXA);
- Develop and implement comprehensive education and prevention training programs for students and employees focusing on issues relating to Title IX, Violence Risk Assessment, the Clery Act (including the VAWA Amendments to Clery) Title VII, the ADA, and other forms of civil rights violations, including sex-based harassment/discrimination (including sexual violence and sexual misconduct)
- Develop, identify, coordinate, and facilitate in-person training for students about their rights and responsibilities under Title IX, VAWA, and the Clery Act, and University policy and process;
- Develop, identify, and coordinate training for faculty, staff, students, Title IX investigators, adjudicators, and those involved with processing Title IX and civil rights complaints;
- Collaborate with University and departmental administration, including Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts, Deans, and Department Heads/Chairs, the Hearing Office, to coordinate education within respective units;
- Develop educational materials, including brochures, resource guides, SOPs, templates, presentation slide decks, posters, social media posts, and web-based materials;
- Regularly review and audit educational materials and training programs to ensure the University’s civil rights and sexual misconduct-related training, and related material are current with University policy and procedures and comply with federal regulations, guidance, and best practices;
- Develop and implement strategic training schedules to ensure onboarding and training programs educate all University employees about their rights and responsibilities, including responsible employee designation requirements;
- Monitor and track training records for University employees and students;
- Monitor compliance with Title IX training requirements and follow up with individuals to assist them in meeting their compliance obligations. When noncompliance with training requirements persists, this position follows up with the individuals and the Title IX Coordinator in accordance with appropriate escalation procedures to ensure the training requirements are timely met;
- Support Compliance Managers in overseeing the grievance process for successful completion of timely and quality resolution of civil rights cases;
- Assist and document violence risk assessments with investigators based on inquiry information available and participate with the UNM Threat Assessment Team as needed;
- Assist with the effectuation of supportive measures and remedies;
- Assist in collecting and analyzing data describing trends, patterns, and risk areas;
- Write expert analytical fact-finding reports that demonstrate sound, balanced reasoning; clear articulation of facts and supporting evidence; and knowledge of applicable polices, rules, laws, and procedures;
- Develop an alternative resolution training program for CEEO response to civil rights reports;
- Provide conflict resolution services including conflict coaching, mediation/conferencing facilitation, and problem solving as assigned;
- Serve as a liaison and strategic partner with university administrators to promote gender-based equity and inclusion;
- Assist in identifying systemic problems relating to complaints of sex-based discrimination and recommends responses;
- Engage in continuous office process improvement reviews and activities;
- Oversee and maintain the UNM’s New Mexico Title IX Coordinator Listserv;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
