Position Summary

The International Studies Institute at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full time, 9-month appointment at the rank of Lecturer III to begin August 11, 2025. The department seeks to hire a generalist in International Studies. Specifically, the department seeks a Lecturer III with knowledge and experience teaching in order to teach the program’s Intro to International Studies (INTS 1110), Capstone seminar (INTS 400), study abroad preparation course (INTS 320), and possible topics courses (INTS (499) of the candidate’s choosing.

In addition, the successful candidate will serve as Associate Director of ISI, and therefore be responsible for organizing and running the annual Fall Lecture Series and the Middle East Lecture Series (in Spring) as well as assist the Director with student advisement, the scholarship committee, and other administrative responsibilities. All Lecturers are reviewed annually. Workload is determined by the program Director and University policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1.      Ph.D. in International Studies or a broad array of international-focused related fields completed by start date of appointment (August 01, 2025)

2.      Minimum of at least 4 years of experience teaching in an academic institution of higher education

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1.      Demonstrated strength in teaching and supervising research at the undergraduate level.

2.      Ability to mentor and advise diverse students at the undergraduate level.

3.      Ability to organize and run a series of lectures centered around a common theme and/or tied to a course.

4.      Ability to assist with the administrative running of the program.

5.      Ability to communicate effectively in a language other than English.

6.      A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
