The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish, which is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. The position begins August 2025.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch community college associated with the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,300 each semester.
Summary of duties and responsibilities: Provide 12 credit hours of classroom instruction per semester primarily in first-year Spanish. Course load may also include 100 and 200-level Spanish courses, such as Heritage Spanish. Other responsibilities include maintaining student records, posting and maintaining office hours as well as participating in curriculum development, outcomes assessment, college committees, professional development, departmental projects, and college/community service.

We will offer reimbursement for travel expenses to all candidates who are invited to the UNM Valencia campus, who accept the offer of an interview, and who must incur long-distance travel expenses. The travel reimbursement will follow UNM policy and be no more than $750.
Applicants who are appointed to a UNM faculty position are required to provide an official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to their initial employment with UNM.
