Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Health Sciences Center, Department of Internal Medicine is seeking BC/BE Internal Medicine or Preventative Medicine trained physicians to join our expanding outpatient faculty group in beautiful Albuquerque, NM.  UNM HSC is the only academic medical center and is the primary teaching hospital in New Mexico. We provide mission driven care for over 200,000 New Mexicans and is the only Level I trauma center in the state.  

The position is focused on providing high-quality, evidence based primary care to a dedicated patient panel as well as providing supervision to Internal Medicine Residents during their continuity clinic experience. Our community clinics are Level III NCQA recognized Patient Centered Medical Homes and serve a culturally rich and diverse community. Clinical sites are integrated with clinical pharmacists, behavioral health, and care management teams.

In addition to clinical time, candidates will enjoy dedicated medical student education time as well as opportunities for advancement in leadership in multiple academic and administrative roles.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • BC or BE in General Internal Medicine or Preventative Medicine by date of hire;
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience or interest in providing evidence-based primary care including and not limited to: complex chronic disease management, prevention, wellness, and lifestyle medicine.
  • Experience or interest in teaching residents and medical students;
  • Experience or interest in caring for underserved populations;
  • Experience or interest in developing quality improvement projects.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
