Position Summary | The UNM-Taos EMS Education Program
invites applicants to apply for full-time, 9- month, Lecturer (dependent on credentials) faculty position. EMS
faculty at UNM-Taos provide quality education for students in northern New
Mexico, preparing EMS providers who are compassionate, knowledgeable, and
competent in providing care for our diverse community. Salary runs $58,000-$62,000
depending on education and qualifications.
The position provides coordination
and instruction for the students entering into and throughout the Associate
of Science Degree in EMS, as well as EMS certification courses (Basic and
AEMT). Instructional responsibilities include classroom, lab, clinical,
office hours, and simulation using widely accepted learning theory and
methodologies. Service and scholarship responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, clinical coordination and oversight, student mentoring and
advising, and participation in University, EMS Education program, or EMS
organizational committees and activities to ensure program outcomes and
achievements. All full-time continuing faculty positions have both
instructional and non-instructional responsibilities.
The position requires
utilization of technology for instruction and communication, a commitment to
student success for our rural and diverse population, and use of effective
interpersonal, leadership and organization skills. This full-time
faculty position provides instruction for University of New Mexico (UNM)-Taos
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education Program offerings, and
participates in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and related
efforts.

UNM-Taos serves over 1,200 students from a service area
including the counties of Taos, Rio Arriba and Colfax, and the Pueblo Nations
of Taos and Picuris. The UNM-Taos student body is representative of its
communities, with 52% Hispanic and 6% Native American enrollment in spring
2023, making it one of the most diverse student bodies in the state. Our
student population is comprised of non-traditional and first-generation
students. UNM-Taos is the recipient of several federal grants including three
TRIO programs (Student Support Services, and Veterans Upward Bound), Hispanic
Serving Institution (HSI) grants including Title V and Title III: Part F
STEM, USDA NIFA and LIFT, and most recently, a National Science Foundation
(NSF) grant.
About 80% of UNM-Taos alumni remain in the area and
provide valuable contributions to the region's intellectual life, economy,
cultural community, and primary industries including healthcare, tourism, and
construction.
The last decade at UNM-Taos has seen transformative and

renovations, a nationally-accredited nursing program, award-winning Early
