Position Summary

The office of Graduate Medical Education is seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual who can work effectively and independently in a multi-task environment. This individual will be responsible for billing, accounts receivable and reconciliation for over 750 resident physicians’ time assigned to Health Sciences clinical departments.  This position will work in the GME Fiscal Team with the Accountant III and a Fiscal Tech.

Other responsibilities include processing nonstandard payment forms, reconciling department accounts, review of financial documents, [HM1] running various reports, entering staff payroll and special projects for the department as needed. This position will require training in reconciling and assisting Fiscal Tech and other staff that possess a Purchasing Card (PCard), as well as training in UNM Travel regulations and cash management practices will be provided to the successful incumbent.

This position will be responsible for assisting the Department Fiscal Tech with processing / creating Purchase Requisitions.  This position will also be responsible for, Journal Vouchers, internal Department spreadsheets (Excel), routine financial documents and fund transactions, reconciling financial records, and analyzing routine financial data.  Accounts Payable experience a plus.  Must have excellent customer service and communication skills, an advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, intermediate level experience with Microsoft Access and the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with UNM financial systems including: Banner, Chrome River, LoboWeb, MyReports
  • Experience working with confidential information
  • Experience with medical education
  • Proficient with in-person, electronic, and phone-based customer service
  • Proficient in MS Excel to analyze/interpret financial data and prepare financial reports
  • Contract and Grant experience
  • Knowledge of University Policies/Procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
