The successful applicant will work under the direction of an Assistant Professor. The primary responsibilities will be conducting experiments in molecular biology and biochemistry. The applicant should have a familiarity with most basic laboratory techniques such as preparing DNA, RNA, and protein extracts from cells and mouse tissues, running DNA and protein gels, setting up PCR reactions, making solutions, and performing cell culture. The ideal applicant should be able to perform advanced techniques in cell culture, including gene knockdowns, overexpression, and drug does curves. The candidate will be expected to learn, develop, and perform new experimental protocols, depending on the needs of the lab. Other responsibilities will include data analysis, making figures, PowerPoint presentations.
Candidates who (in addition to the aforementioned skills) have training and experience with laboratory mice will be given preference.
It is expected that the new hire will work in a team-oriented setting, and will be expected to provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members. The new hire will have the opportunity to train undergraduate students, but this is not mandatory.
