The University of New Mexico is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Tech to support human resource operations within the Department of Pediatrics. This position plays a key role in processing staff and student employment transactions, maintaining HR records, and assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and employee support. The HR Tech will work closely with department leadership, hiring managers, and HR representatives to ensure accurate data entry, timely processing of HR requests, and compliance with university policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and data management abilities, and thrive in an independent work environment. Pediatrics is a large department with over 500 faculty/staff/students in multiple locations and 18 centers/divisions.
This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with HR systems, maintaining confidentiality, and providing exceptional customer service to employees and applicants. A hands-on approach to hiring, onboarding, and employment processes is required, along with efficiently managing data entry, documentation, and participating in staff HR functions. Success in this role requires being accessible to department staff and leaders and demonstrating strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Process staff and student employment transactions, including hiring, onboarding, pay adjustments, and separations, ensuring compliance with HR policies.
- Maintain and update employee records in HR systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with recruitment activities, such as posting job openings, screening applications, and coordinating interviews.
- Support hiring managers and department leaders with onboarding and offboarding tasks, including new hire paperwork and orientation.
- Generate reports, track HR data, and provide administrative support to department leadership.
- Stay updated on university HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficient processing.
- Utilize the UNM HR Salary Equity and Placement Tool (SPET) and serve as a liaison between the School of Medicine and hiring managers to ensure that salary offers align with industry standards, internal equity considerations, and the specific qualifications and experience of candidates
- Act as a liaison between faculty, staff, and University HR on topics such as benefits and retirement plans, while maintaining clear communication and alignment with SOM HR and UNM HR consultants.
- Participate in the ongoing development and updating of department recruitment procedures, utilizing HR systems such as UNM JOBS, SmartSheet, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook to manage data entry, track progress, and streamline recruitment activities.
