Reporting to the Senior Vice Provost, the Director of the Office for Academic Personnel is assigned the day-to-day responsibility for central and branch campus academic employment at the University of New Mexico. This position manages, provides leadership for, and provides strategic direction for the office. The Director is responsible for overseeing the implementation and day-to-day administration of the University’s faculty and graduate student collective bargaining agreements. The Director manages and directs the labor relations and academic human resources activities in Academic Affairs/Office for Academic Personnel. Serves as the primary contact for UA-UNM and UE and collaborates closely with Academic Affairs in matters concerning bargaining and implementation of the faculty contract.
The Director will lead, guide, and supervise a team of staff, provide collaborative and consultative advice on interpretation and application on the labor contract and personnel rules interpretation, and serve as a key contributor to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures.
The Director will lead fact finding investigations, respond to information requests, and represent the University at arbitration, mediation, and appeal hearings; conduct analyses and assessments, and prepare reports and recommendations to enrich and promote the integrity of the university’s faculty and graduate student labor relations functions.
The Office for Academic Personnel will work closely with UNM’s Human Resources Department, the Provost and the Provost’s Leadership team, the deans of each school/college/branch, and branch campus chancellors to resolve issues that affect faculty members and provide seamless service and support to the University.

Master's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) or certifications from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
