Nurse/Clinical Research Coord

Position Summary The Clinical Trials Unit of the Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting for an on-call Nurse/Clinical Research Coordinator. This position requires a working knowledge of pulmonary vascular disease and pulmonary arterial hypertension treatment. This position involves completion of duties in the following general areas, as well as other duties as needed for successful research protocol completion:

Protocol Administration, including screening and recruitment of potential study candidates; overseeing and coordinating the research-related care and treatment of subjects; data collection, and entry in accordance with trials protocols and requirements; coordinating services with other departments and agencies; and reporting of protocol deviations and adverse events.

Clinical Coordination activities, such as serving as the liaison between investigators, clinical personnel, ancillary departments, research subjects, sponsoring organizations, and/or regulating bodies; educating staff regarding protocols; ensuring compliance with established research standards, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedural requirements.

Conditions of Employment
  • CPR Certified.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • May be required to submit immunization records for review for required vaccines and TB testing.
  • Must maintain certification and/or licensure status.
  • May be required to complete department-specific professional development activities.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure: State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 plus years of experience with clinical duties within Pulmonary medicine. 
  • Direct experience in clinical work with Pulmonary and Critical Care.
