Position Summary

The University of New Mexico-Valencia is seeking applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant 2.  This position coordinates and performs a range of staff and/or operational support activities for UNM-Valencia’s Police Department, including customer service inquiries, internal and external communication, cataloging documents, as well as tasks related to the Clery Act.

The Administrative Assistant 2 oversees inventory control, processes records requests, assists in maintaining calendars/schedules in concurrence with community events, and assists in monitoring campus safety and security technologies.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, career and technical programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with police communications and public safety protocols
  • Experience with security cameras and access control
  • Knowledge of the Clery Act and its' reporting requirements
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
