The University of New Mexico High School Equivalency Program (UNM HEP) is designed to assist migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and their immediate family members in obtaining their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. UNM HEP is federally funded by the US Department of Education under the Office of Migrant Education.
UNM HEP offers an intensive, holistic HSE course for its qualifying participants each year. UNM HEP is seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic, positive individual who will provide instruction to HEP participants to attain their high school diploma. The HSE instructor provides basic reading, writing, social studies, math, and science instruction. Classes and instruction will be conducted online, while office hours will be held in person. There is also a possibility that some teaching may take place in person. The instructor will not be limited to teaching; they will be an active participant in the implementation of the HEP grant. This includes providing guidance to the HEP tutors, assisting in retention efforts, and providing workshops outside of the classroom. UNM HEP also hosts social and cultural activities for the students, and the instructors participate in the creation, development and facilitation of said activities. The instructor will design, evaluate, and implement curriculum for the UNM HEP intensive English & Spanish HSE courses that includes adult learning theory and methodologies. Finally, the ability to communicate proficiently in English and Spanish (Written and Spoken) will be key to be an effective instructor.

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
