The Department of Cell Biology & Physiology in the UNM School of Medicine is seeking a professional, detail-oriented Accountant II to join our research-active academic department. This role is ideal for someone with strong problem-solving abilities, a self-motivated attitude, and a solid background in both unrestricted and restricted (sponsored projects) accounting.
As our Accountant II, you will oversee all funding and accounting operations for the department, ensuring compliance with institutional and sponsor regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage unrestricted and restricted funds, including budget creation, entry, and monitoring
Perform monthly reconciliation of indexes
Prepare and update monthly projections and financial reports
Process financial transactions (such as: NSPs, labor redistributions, reimbursements, requisitions, journal vouchers)
Coordinate and prepare regularly scheduled and special billings
Provide guidance to faculty, students, and staff on UNM accounting policies and procedures
We're looking for someone who is organized, collaborative, and passionate about supporting academic research through sound financial management.

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
