Position Overview: This role is ideal for an aspiring athletic trainer looking for hands-on experience in a Division I athletic environment. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services under the guidance of a team physician and report to the Director of Sports Medicine. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive sports medicine team. What You’ll Do: · Coordinate injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. · Maintain accurate, timely medical records for athletes. · Coordinate referrals to physicians and specialists as needed. · Serve as a liaison between coaches, athletes, physicians, and parents. · Provide preceptor duties for UNM’s athletic training education program. · Oversee daily operations and maintenance of sports medicine facilities. · Provide coverage for daily practices, home games, and travel with the assigned team. · Complete administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. · Ensure continuing education in compliance with the Board of Certification and New Mexico Board of Athletic Trainers. · Adhere to NCAA and Mountain West Conference rules and regulations. · Develop and distribute visiting team information. · Perform other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: · Non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel with the team.
