Position Summary

The School of Architecture and Planning welcomes applications for a full-time Academic Coordinator. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a creative environment and uniquely designed facility in support of the Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Community & Regional Planning, Environmental Design, and Historic Preservation disciplines. The Academic Coordinator will perform a broad range of tasks related to academic units and will provide centralized administrative support to Department Chairs and Associate Deans as needed. The Academic Coordinator will report to the Academic Operations Officer. Duties and responsibilities for this staff position may include:

  • Serve as Search Coordinator for regular contract faculty and part-time faculty hiring.
  • Process payments to vendors, reimbursements, honoraria, purchase orders, requisitions, and hold a UNM PCard.
  • Process EPAF rehires, labor distributions, honoraria, and non-standard payments.
  • Originate graduate assistantship contracts.
  • Coordinate and execute special events, conferences, meetings; generate meeting notes and follow up on action items.
  • Coordinate faculty directed student travel and summer programs, both domestic and international.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a professional demeanor, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and a strong commitment to excellence and detail as well as an ability to prioritize and manage multiple administrative projects.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Four year undergraduate degree in any field.
  • Experience providing administrative support for an academic unit and knowledge of UNM (or other institution) policies and procedures for procurement and hiring faculty and students.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Teams, and Outlook Calendar
  • Experience holding Purchasing Card and using UNMJobs, Banner, Chrome River, LoboMart or similar systems.
  • Experience working with a diverse population and ability to communicate with a broad range of people from various cultural backgrounds.
