|Working Title||Research Assistant/PREP scholar|
This staff position is associated with the UNM Post-baccalaureate Research and Education Program (PREP), thus only those individuals applying to PREP should file an application. See the PREP website for more details (http://prep.unm.edu). Successful applicants for this position will be supported for a one year non-renewable term subject to satisfactory performance
in the program.
Provides technical assistance, as assigned, in the collection, processing, and coordination of data, samples, and/or specimens for a specified research study or group of studies. Works within established research protocol and under
specific instructions as to method, process, and technique to perform or assist with routine tests, experiments, and/or procedures relevant to the field of study.

|Conditions of Employment|
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Vocational-Technical Training directly related Life Sciences field; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a Ph.D. in a biomedical research field. Be a recipient of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

|Application Instructions||Each student wishing to be considered for entry in PREP@UNM will be required to prepare and submit documents which contain the following items:
1) A cover letter indicating whether and how you meet the eligibility criteria, including a statement as to why you require an additional year of training before entering graduate school.
2) A CV/resume.
3) A statement of future career goals, and how this training program will assist you in attaining those goals. Applicants whose primary interests lie in application to Medical School or Pharmacy School will be disqualified.
4) Prioritized list of three PREP Faculty Mentors whom you have identified from the mentors list. Additional professors at UNM will be eligible to be PREP Mentors, so if you identify an individual not on the list please let us know.
