The Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor in a department in the School of Engineering or College of Arts and Sciences beginning August 2019. We seek innovative and collaborative researchers and educators in all areas of materials science and engineering, especially those with expertise in complex-oxide semiconductors, nanometer scale semiconductors, quantum materials, 2D materials, and metamaterials.
CHTM is an internationally recognized center of excellence in optoelectronics, optics, materials science, and microelectronics that boasts a creative and entrepreneurial faculty spanning multiple schools, colleges, and departments. CHTM provides outstanding scientific and technical expertise and cutting-edge instrumentation and facilities, including a fully equipped 3,500 sq. ft. class 1000/100 cleanroom. Faculty at CHTM have numerous opportunities for collaborations with Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, Air Force Research

At the time of appointment applicants must at a minimum hold a doctorate in electrical engineering, physics, or related field. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Applicants should preferably demonstrate a vision for a long-term research program at CHTM, strong publication record, a commitment to teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, a track record or potential for attracting significant extramural research support, the ability to engage in interdisciplinary research at UNM, a commitment to service within the appointed department and CHTM, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with diverse communities. The successful applicant will receive a tenure-track or tenured appointment in a department in the School of Engineering or College of Arts and Sciences.
