Position Summary The Department of Sociology & Criminology is looking for a motivated friendly individual to join the team. This front office position requires someone with excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to represent the department in a friendly, professional manner. 

This position works closely with department leadership, faculty & students in ensuring operations run smoothly and will include day-to-day administrative duties such as front desk support, answering telephones, assisting students, visitors and resolving or referring a range of administrative inquiries.  The position will be responsible for processing payroll, account reconciliation, facilities and inventory management, managing the department calendar, scheduling travel, making office purchases using a Pcard and Lobomart, pcard reconciliation, monthly meeting minutes and all reimbursements. This position will involve planning events, scheduling and facilitating meetings.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

·        Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

·        Records maintenance skills.

·        Knowledge of famis, lobomart, chrome river

·        Database management skills.

·        Ability to analyze and solve problems.

·        Ability to supervise and train assigned work study students

·        Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

·        Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

·        Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

·        Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

·        Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
