The UNM Depart. of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking an experienced accountant with excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills to join our busy team. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, value great customer service, work well independently, and meet deadlines.  This position works with both restricted and non-restricted accounts and supports and interacts with multiple faculty and staff members.
Our Accountant II will be responsible for a variety of fiscal duties, including:
* Preparing and reviewing budgets and expenditures for compliance with UNM policies and sponsor requirements;
* Preparing related analysis/reports of budgets and expenditures;
* Monitoring and reconciling both restricted and unrestricted accounts;
* Monitoring and reviewing accounts and reports for accuracy and completeness;
* Understanding and answering questions regarding allowable purchasing and reimbursements, and reviewing credit card statements to ensure compliance;
* Performing basic accounting functions such as fund analysis, cost analysis, fund reconciliation, posting, allocations and journal voucher entries;
* Coordinating and preparing regularly scheduled and special billings, collecting monthly billings and troubleshooting billing issues as they arise;
* Compiling data, researching and resolving issues using Banner Finance, preparing financial data and generating finance reports;
* Developing budgets and tracking operating ledger data to monitor trends.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Accounting
  • Experience with contract and grant management
  • Proficiency in accounting functions including reconciliations, reimbursement and purchasing, journal vouchers, budget entries and reporting
  • Experience working with UNM systems including: My Reports, Banner Finance, WorkFlow, LoboMart, EPrints, Effort Certifications System, EPAFs, Budget Planner, Salary Planner, and Budget Categorization System
  • Demonstrated experience managing fiscal needs at a division level
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate financial information to different levels within an organization
