The Department of Neurology is seeking a qualified candidate to join our comprehensive subspecialty program focused in Movement Disorders as a Clinician Educator, Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will join other faculty in providing quality patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting at UNM Hospital. With state-of-the-art, high field MRI and MEG brain imaging center and molecular biology facilities, we support an active clinical research program. Assessment and treatment of movement disorders in our "Clinical Neuroscience Center" including Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, chorea, tics, tremors and other involuntary movements as well as a dedicated clinic for patients with ALS. We are home to a comprehensive seizure disorders center (Level IV National Association of Epilepsy Centers) serving New Mexico and the southwestern United States.
Clinical responsibilities include direct patient care in busy clinical settings, ward and consult attending supervision of residents, fellows and medical students and midlevel providers. Academic responsibilities include participation in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. Based on qualifications leadership opportunities may be available.
The individual will join an active, Movement Disorders specialty program. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong research or clinical interests. A state-of-art high-field MRI and MEG brain imaging center and molecular biology facilities are available. A wealth of opportunities exists for mentorship and academic development within our Clinical and Translational Science Center and the Brain and Behavioral Health Institute. Responsibilities will include evaluation/management of patients with movement disorders, rotations on the Inpatient and Consult services. The opportunity to focus on clinical or basic science research, teaching at the medical student, resident, and faculty level, and community engagement.
