Position Summary

The College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) seeks applicants for a Curriculum Development Coordinator to support the American Indian Language Policy Research and Teacher Training Center. The Center aims to serve as a local and national center of collaborative research that examines major policy issues affecting the survival and maintenance of American Indian languages. The Center also provides a venue for developing and providing Native language teacher training programs and technical assistance support for American Indian tribes engaged in language maintenance and preservation initiatives, a key aspect of the Center’s outreach and service.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Assist the Project Director in preparing training curriculum and resource materials for workshops and Institutes conducted by the American Indian Language Policy Research and Teacher Training Center for American Indian language teachers.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with external constituencies requesting technical assistance support for Native language curriculum development, training, outreach, and community engagement in teaching Native languages.
  • Oversee the production of language curriculum resource materials to be used in Native language programs and provide training to Native language teachers in the use of technology and equipment housed in the Center to develop various types of instructional materials.
  • Coordinate a schedule of materials development requests and distribution in response to technical assistance requests from external constituencies.
  • Catalog, maintain, and archive all developed curriculum material samples.
  • Develop and maintain constituency service logs and maintenance records for Center equipment.
  • Prepare training reports and maintain communications with internal and external stakeholders on materials development projects. 
  • Maintain all materials development equipment including poster printers, book-making equipment, laminating equipment, copier machines, MacIntosh computers and graphic applications.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of supplies and materials used in developing resources for training and instruction.
  • Maintain existing inventory and catalog of the Center’s library of Native language materials, books, videotapes, and other resources.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in the state of New Mexico.
  • Experience in designing and developing visual and graphic materials for instructional purposes.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of materials development equipment including, poster printers, laminators, book-making equipment, copiers, MacIntosh computers, and computer applications such as Word, Powerpoint, and other graphic applications.
