Position Summary

The Academic Advisor, Sr. position in the College of Education and Human Sciences Center for Student Success will work in a team environment to deliver academic advisement for prospective and current students.  

The primary responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Providing direct academic advisement to students including the review of transcripts, review of Programs of Study, completion of graduation checks, and general academic support and advice.
  • Completing administrative components for academic advising including the documentation of appointments and related notes, preparation of student files, investigative work to address issues, and addressing inquiries via email and phone.
  • Planning, implementing, coordinating, and participating in special projects, events, New Student Orientations, and other recruitment and retention activities.
  • Supports academic school/college goals by providing input on academic programs, delivering presentations/workshops, and training lower-level advisors, where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional ability in a higher education setting analyzing and solving problems using independent judgement and analyzing and interpreting student transcripts. 
  • Have displayed mentorship experience in previous positions. 
  • Have background in student success development and maintenance.
