Position Summary

 

UNM Neurology seeks an Epileptologist to join the Neurology team.  The position will be part of a team of faculty in providing quality patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting at UNM Hospital.

Clinical responsibilities include coverage/call on adult neurology inpatient service, outpatient clinic in neurology or specialty clinics, and reading of inpatient and outpatient adult electroencephalograms (EEGs). Academic responsibilities include participation in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Research responsibilities include participating in clinical trials programs in the department.

UNM Hospital is the tertiary care center for the State and the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC level 4 epilepsy center, and ALS / MDA center in the State. The UNM Neurology Department has 45 full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home to well-established Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.

About Albuquerque, New Mexico

Albuquerque, NM is a beautiful city with Sandia Mountains to the east and mesa to the west.  At more than a mile-high elevation, this high desert environment provides beautiful sunny days but also the variety of all four seasons.  It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports all year-round including running, hiking, biking, and skiing. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD Degree or equivalent
  • Board certified/eligible in Neurology.
  • Completed Adult Neurology Residency training prior to start date.
  • Eligible for Medical licensure in the state of New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epilepsy neurology fellowship
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience managing neurology patients
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
