Position Summary

Under the close mentorship of professional staff, the University of New Mexico Information Technologies (IT) is seeking a motivated, team-oriented, individual to join the IT Business Operations team as a Professional Intern.  This position will provide entry level professional services to include support of day to day operating activities, administrative support, human resources transaction processing, basic accounting functions, budgeting, procurement and accounts payable activities, inventory management, and completion of assigned projects. This individual will also be involved in the development and implementation of internal processes and procedures and will providing daily business operations support to IT Software Distribution. 

This position involves a high degree of interaction with staff at all levels of the organization, which requires strong communication and excellent customer service skills.  Additionally, candidates must possess the ability to work independently when necessary, have the knowledge and ability to develop process, strong Microsoft Excel skills, and great attention to detail.

This is a fixed-term position that is restricted to graduates of accredited university Bachelor’s or Masters programs who have obtained their degrees no earlier than 24 months prior to the date of hire.

  • Must present transcripts prior to a formal offer being extended.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree obtained no earlier than 24 months prior to the date of hire; no previous work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  •  Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in providing new ideas to improve process efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with MS Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
