Position Summary

UNM’s Facilities Management is seeking a motivated, self-directed candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our team as an Access Control Tech 1.  The individual selected for this position will provide support for our dynamic Lock Shop division. This is a great position at the University of New Mexico for the right person who is looking to gain experience and work in a team environment. The ideal candidate will assist with installation, maintenance, and repairs for locks,
key systems, and door hardware.

Facilities Management manages the operation and maintenance of UNM's facilities, including buildings, grounds, landscaping, vehicles, and utilities.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge in different types of key banks and their organization.
  • Knowledge of Key Hierarchy and its breakdown.
  • Knowledge of basic Life Safety Codes as it pertains to doors and hardware.
  • Knowledge of basic computer and tablet (iPad) use. Ability to use a verity of power tools.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Must have good analytical skills.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule.
  • Must have good mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
