Open Rank - Clinician Educator – Surgical FM/OB Physician The Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking a Family Medicine physician with fellowship training in surgical obstetrics to join our faculty. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated commitment to service, education, and perinatal addiction care. This faculty role centers on Maternal Child Health and primary care within a mission‑driven, community‑focused department. The successful candidate will serve as an attending physician on the Family Medicine Maternal and Child Health (MCH) service, provide inpatient addiction consultation for pregnant patients with substance use disorders, have an outpatient primary care panel, and participate in newborn care at the University Hospital’s level I nursery, with potential involvement in the level II intermediate care nursery. Teaching is a core component of this position, including supervision and instruction of Family Medicine residents, MCH fellows, UNM medical students, and residents in Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology. Our MCH program is deeply rooted in community-based care, with established partnerships supporting rural family medicine practices, offering a rich environment for collaborative clinical care and training. Robust research opportunities are also available for faculty interested in scholarly work. Patient Centered Care In the clinical area, the candidate will be engaged in a primary care, team-based model exploring innovative methodology of health care delivery. We have a growing number of Family Medicine clinics throughout Albuquerque in which faculty practice. These are all Patient Centered Medical Home Model and currently many of these clinics are rated the top level, PCMH (level 3). Innovative Education We are nationally and internationally known for educational innovation, currently in the area of the integration of medicine and public health. Our faculty are major contributors to the education of medical students at UNM and our residency program creates opportunities for rotations in both rural and underserved settings as well as UNM rotations. - We have several Fellowships including Maternal Child Health, Sports Medicine and Rural Medicine.
