The Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at the University of New Mexico (UNM) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We seek an innovative and collaborative researcher and educator in broad areas of chemical engineering. Applications are encouraged from, but not limited to, areas related to energy and sustainability, bioengineering, and materials science. The successful candidate should have the ability to develop a high-impact independent research program that cuts across disciplines, departments, and research centers, and the dedication to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The University of New Mexico is the only Carnegie-classified R1 (very high research activity) university in the state and is a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution. Our faculty benefit and actively collaborate with federally-funded UNM and School of Engineering research centers, a nationally ranked School of Medicine, and nearby national laboratories (Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Air Force Research Laboratory). The UNM Lobo Rainforest provides an entrepreneurial ecosystem, which includes Rainforest Innovations and the Innovation Academy, that translates research to market.
Qualified candidates will have earned a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering or a related discipline by the time of appointment. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated ability to develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program; a commitment to undergraduate/graduate education and student mentoring; and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
For best consideration, applicants must submit an application to UNMJobs (req22562) that includes a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement, a list of at least three professional references, and highlight summary (downloadable form) by December 16, 2022.
