Position Summary

The faculty and staff of University of New Mexico College of Nursing welcome you to a tradition of excellence in nursing research, education, and clinical practice. We represent the very best in quality and innovation within an academic environment. Our focus is on building evidence for effective practice and translating that evidence-based knowledge to practice and policy environments with an emphasis in rural health. 

We are currently recruiting a faculty member for undergraduate nursing positions. The primary focus is teaching conceptual content to undergraduate students. This is a full time 12-month appointment. The selected applicant must commit to living in Albuquerque/Santa Fe metropolitan statistical area.

The incoming faculty will teach and maintain an active New Mexico nursing license specific to their area of teaching. The combination of teaching and clinical experience is a fundamental component of our educational mission. Responsibilities include classroom, online and simulation teaching, mentoring, advising and precepting students, assisting with clinical placements and student oversight, scholarship/service, and participation in program activities and committees to ensure stated program goals are achieved. This position may teach across programs at the College of Nursing.

The University Of New Mexico College of Nursing located in Albuquerque, NM, ranks in the top 15% of nursing programs in the country. With over 1,000 enrolled students, the college offers pre- and post-licensure baccalaureate, master’s, post-master’s, and doctoral programs.  Program offerings include the state’s premiere Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs; master’s and post-master’s programs across seven concentrations for APRNs, nurse educators, and nurse administrators; and the New Mexico Nurse Education Consortium baccalaureate curriculum.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in nursing
  • Must be eligible for RN licensure in New Mexico or hold an RN license in a compact state

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Doctoral degree
  • Professional certification related to nursing and nursing education
  • Clinical and/or teaching experience
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
