Position Summary

The faculty and staff of the University of New Mexico College of Nursing (UNM CON) welcome you to a tradition of excellence in research, education and clinical practice.  We represent the very best in quality & innovation within an academic environment of research. Our focus is on building robust programs of research, as well as, providing evidence for effective practice and translating knowledge to practice & policy in the areas of:

  •  Disaster and Emergency Preparedness
  •  Military and Veteran Health
  •  Women’s Health
  •  Environmental Toxicology
  •  Policy Research

We are currently recruiting a tenure track/tenured faculty member. The selected individual will receive an academic appointment commensurate with credentials and qualifications based upon the UNM’s and CON’s Appointment, Promotion and Tenure criteria. This is a full time, 12-month appointment. 

The combination of teaching and scholarly productivity is a fundamental component of a research university. The incoming faculty member’s responsibilities will include:

  • maintaining an extramurally funded program of research/scholarship, that aligns with the College of Nursing and the UNM Health Science Center (HSC),
  •  teaching, mentoring and advising students across CON educational programs with a focus on PhD courses,
  •  student oversight, and
  •  Providing service to the College, University and the profession as deemed appropriate with rank and expertise.

The University Of New Mexico College of Nursing, located in Albuquerque, NM, ranks in the top 15% of nursing programs in the country.  With over 1,000 enrolled students, the college offers pre- and post-licensure baccalaureate, master’s, post-master’s, and doctoral programs.  Program offerings include the state’s premiere Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs; master’s and post-master’s programs across seven concentrations for APRNs, nurse educators, and nurse administrators; and the New Mexico Nurse Education Consortium baccalaureate curriculum.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • PhD or Research Doctorate
  • Evidence of scholarly activities (examples include; published manuscripts, research presentations, and research funding commensurate with appointed rank).
  • A commitment to working and collaborating with diverse students, faculty, and communities.
  • Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A demonstrated record of teaching experience
  • History of extramural research funding
  • Potential for achieving R01 funding or equivalent
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
